Ambassly vs Rewardful vs FirstPromoter: which fits your SaaS affiliate program

Published · The Ambassly team

Rewardful and FirstPromoter are the two most-recommended Stripe affiliate tools for SaaS, and they're priced almost identically: both start at $49/mo and both cap monthly affiliate revenue on every tier. We build Ambassly, so we're not neutral, but the numbers below are pulled directly from each vendor's own pricing page, checked August 2026, not estimated.

Where Rewardful wins

Rewardful is the tool most SaaS founders name first when asked what affiliate software to use, and that reputation is earned. It has the most mature documentation in this category, supports Paddle Classic and Chargebee billing (not just Stripe), and charges 0% transaction fees. If you're already committed to one of those other billing providers, Rewardful's maturity there is a real advantage Ambassly doesn't match, since Ambassly is Stripe-only.

Where FirstPromoter wins

FirstPromoter includes fraud detection, self-referral and ad-traffic detection, on every plan, including its cheapest tier. That's a genuine differentiator: Ambassly gates its self-referral and fraud guards behind the Growth plan ($79/mo), and Rewardful doesn't list fraud detection as a standalone feature at all. FirstPromoter also offers more payout methods across its plans, including one-click Stripe payouts, versus Ambassly's CSV/PayPal-export-only approach in the current version.

Where Ambassly wins

Two things: no revenue caps on any plan, and per-content links standard from the entry tier. Both Rewardful and FirstPromoter cap monthly affiliate revenue per tier, cross the number and you're forced to upgrade, which means the software gets more expensive exactly when the affiliate channel starts working. Neither competitor lists per-content attribution (a separate trackable link per video, newsletter, or README instead of one link per program) as a standard feature; Ambassly includes it on every plan. Ambassly's commission ledger is also structured as an append-only audit trail by default, every status change and clawback is visible, not just a summary report.

What none of the three has solved yet

None of the three offers instant, fully automated payouts across every plan without some manual step or added fee. Ambassly's v1 payout flow is export-based (CSV and PayPal mass-pay), not one-click. If same-day automated payouts on every tier matter more to you than caps or attribution, this is worth checking directly against each vendor's current payout page before deciding.

Frequently asked questions

Is this comparison neutral? No, Ambassly is our product. What we can promise: every number above was checked against each vendor's own public pricing page in August 2026, and this page names where the other two tools are genuinely ahead of us (Paddle/Chargebee support, transaction-fee structure, fraud detection at entry tier, more payout methods).

Which of the three is cheapest for a program under $5,000/mo in affiliate revenue? At that volume, all three fit within their entry tier. Ambassly is the cheapest entry price at $39/mo. FirstPromoter's $5,000/mo cap on Starter is worth watching if you expect fast growth, since crossing it forces an upgrade to Business ($99/mo).

Which one has the best fraud protection? FirstPromoter, on price. It includes self-referral and ad-traffic fraud detection on every plan, including its cheapest tier. Ambassly includes equivalent guards starting on Growth ($79/mo); Rewardful doesn't list fraud detection as a named feature on its pricing page.

Do any of the three support billing platforms besides Stripe? Rewardful supports Stripe, Paddle Classic, and Chargebee. FirstPromoter supports Stripe, Chargebee, and Paddle. Ambassly is Stripe-only in the current version. If your billing runs through Paddle or Chargebee, that alone may decide it for you.
