7 Rewardful alternatives compared (2026)

2026-07-06 · The Ambassly team

Rewardful has been the default answer to "what affiliate tool should I use" for years. It's solid software. But if you're reading this, something made you start looking elsewhere, probably the $7.5k/mo affiliate-revenue cap on its Starter plan, or the fact that Stripe, Paddle Classic, and Chargebee are your only processor options.

We build Ambassly, so we're not neutral here. What we can do is stick to numbers we've actually verified on live pricing pages, and tell you where each tool is genuinely strong instead of pretending they're all the same product with a different logo.

The comparison

Tool Entry price Revenue cap Notable strength
Rewardful $49/mo → $149/mo $7.5k/mo affiliate revenue on Starter Mature, widely documented, big integration list
Affonso €15/mo → €149/mo (revenue-banded) Tiers scale with revenue band 5 payment processors (Stripe, Paddle, Polar, Creem, Dodo), AI affiliate finder
Tolt $69/mo → $199/mo $10k/mo on Basic Clean UI, but forced "Powered by Tolt" branding on lower tiers
FirstPromoter $49/mo → $149/mo $5k/mo, 1,000 affiliates, 3 campaigns on Starter Fraud detection included on every plan
Refgrow $29/mo flat None Embedded widget + a small "Referral Exchange" marketplace
PromoteKit Starts around $29/mo Not part of our verified sample Simple, Stripe-first setup
Dub Partners Not part of our verified sample, check dub.co directly Not verified The other tool that takes per-content attribution seriously
Ambassly $39/mo → $149/mo None, ever Commission ledger with a full audit trail, per-content links standard on every plan

A note on Affonso and Dub: we couldn't verify exact current pricing tiers for Dub Partners in our research, so we're not putting a number next to it. If you're evaluating it, check their pricing page directly rather than trusting a number from a blog post, including this one.

Where the pain actually is

Almost every complaint we found about the incumbent tools traces back to one of three things.

Revenue caps. Rewardful, FirstPromoter, and Tolt all gate their entry tier behind a monthly affiliate-revenue ceiling ($7.5k, $5k, and $10k respectively). Cross that number and you're forced to upgrade, which means the tool gets more expensive exactly when your affiliate channel is working. That's the single loudest complaint across review sites for this category.

Gated auto-payouts. FirstPromoter and Tolt both hold automatic payouts behind their $99+ tiers. On the cheaper plans you're manually approving and paying out affiliates yourself, which defeats a chunk of the reason you bought the software.

Forced branding. Tolt puts "Powered by Tolt" on your affiliate pages unless you're on a higher tier. If your affiliate program is a trust surface (it is, that's the whole product), a competitor's logo on it is a real cost, not a cosmetic one.

Where each tool actually wins

To be fair to the incumbents: Rewardful's integration list is long and its docs are mature, which matters if you're already deep into Chargebee or Paddle Classic. Affonso is moving fast on processor breadth (five processors is genuinely more than anyone else here) and has an AI affiliate finder, though its two-sided affiliate network is still a roadmap item, not a shipped feature. FirstPromoter includes fraud detection on every plan including its cheapest one, which is a real differentiator. Refgrow's flat $29/mo with no caps is a similar pricing philosophy to what we describe below, though it's a much newer, smaller company with less of a track record.

Dub is worth calling out specifically because it's the only other tool we found that takes per-content attribution seriously, letting creators see which specific video or post converted instead of one lump link per program.

Where we fit into this

We built our own tool around two things the rest of this list treats as afterthoughts: a commission ledger where every dollar has a visible audit trail from click to payout, and per-content links on every plan, not gated behind a higher tier. We also don't cap referred revenue on any plan, Starter included. If your affiliate channel takes off, your bill doesn't change because of that.

How to actually choose

If you're already committed to Paddle Classic or Chargebee, Rewardful's maturity is a real point in its favor. If you need multiple processors right now, look hard at Affonso. If you want the cheapest possible flat rate and can live with a smaller, newer vendor, Refgrow is worth a trial. If per-content attribution and a trustworthy audit trail matter more to you than anything else on this list, that's the gap we built to fill.

Whatever you pick, read the pricing page yourself before you commit. Caps and gates change, and the only reliable source is the vendor's own current page: Rewardful's alternatives page, FirstPromoter's pricing, and Affonso's pricing are all worth a direct look before you decide.
